APPRENTICE
Acute Pancreatitis Patient Registry to Examine Novel Therapies in Clinical Experiences

What is APPRENTICE?

APPRENTICE is an international multi-center study on Acute Pancreatitis sponsored by CAPER. This study initiated by Georgios Papachristou, MD, Ph.D. Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. The idea of creating a prospective international registry in Acute Pancreatitis developed during the PancreasFest 2014  (July 2014, Pittsburgh, PA). The University of Pittsburgh has led this initiative and served as the coordinating center. Dr. Papachristou in collaboration with Amir Gougol, internal medicine resident, designed and conducted the study and invited the investigators from highly experienced centers in pancreatic research.

In September 2015, the APPRENTICE phase I enrolled the first patient. Regular monthly/bi-weekly webinars, and multiple rounds of data quality monitoring performed under the guidance of Phil Greer, biostatistician, to ensure the quality of data. To date, more than 1500 patients from 24 centers throughout the world prospectively enrolled in the study.

Should you have any questions, please contact Georgios Papachristou at papachri@pitt.edu,  Amir Gougol at gougolah@upmc.edu, or Phil Greer at pgreer@upmc.edu.
